Future Home

We are happy to be partnering with WDG, Inc (Woodland Design Group, Inc) to build our new home. On August 6th - the builders just started Phase One - clearing the land. Dr. Vaughan and the Staff were unhappy to see the BIG pecan tree be torn down.

Clearing of the Land
PhaseOne 1   PhaseOne 1

PhaseOne 1   It has taken about 2 weeks to prep the land. After the old storage building was removed from the back, loads of soil and rock was brought in to build the land up. Only problem - when it rains, our current clinic floods!

Getting Ready for the Plumbing

PhaseOne 1

After putting up some temporary forms to lay out the slab, the plumbers came to set up all the 4 inch PVC piping for all the draining. Wow - this building is going to be BIG. It basically stretches from one side of the property to the other. It is about 85 feet wide!

In this picture to the left you can see the back of the current building in the background. Eventually, when this new clinic is built, our old facility will be torn down and turned into a parking lot. Lots more room for our clients to park - that has been a major issue for us in the past.

Prepping for the Foundation

PhaseOne 1   PhaseOne 1

PhaseOne 1   It is September 9th and they are just about finished with laying the rebar for the foundation. There is a lot of detail work that goes into this. So far we are on schedule and planning to pour concrete by the end of this week.

Creating the Slab

PhaseFour   After 4 days of rainy weather, we were about to lose hope for getting the slab poured. Finally, I got the call that we were scheduled to pour on Wednesday September 16th. Dr. Vaughan and I were up at 6 am, with the kids in PJ's, to rush over to the the clinic so that we could watch the pouring of the cement. Wow - what a mess. It was amazing that within four hours the whole slab was poured and smoothed over. The next day, Trey and Boston came back out to play on the hugh foundation.

Building the Walls

September 21, 2009

Today the lumber was delivered and they started to build the walls. These photos were taken on September 23rd.

After raining all day yesterday, they started strong this morning. The walls are formed on the slab and then up-righted to form the walls.

Within just a few days, we have a lot of the framing completed. As you can see in the next two photos, this is going to be a very tall building.

Installing Timber Trusses

September 30, 2009

Today was an exciting day. A large crane was used to help install the timber trusses. These will be stained. As you enter the reception area, you will see 7 of these timber trusses above. The ceiling in the reception area is over 20 feet high. There are eight windows just below the timber trusses. These will allow for natural lighting to enter the building.

Throughout the practice are long windows located high up on the walls. These windows are designed to being in natural sunlight.

The next two pictures were taken on Friday, October 2nd. So far the siding has been installed on back and sides. Most of the windows have been installed. We picked out the stone for the front today.

Stucco & Stone

An update is long overdue. Ever since the roof has been completed and they have started on the stucco and stone, it seems like the process has slowed down -although it really hasn't. A large amount of time has been needed for internal electrical, plumbing and central air. Just last week, they started sheet rocking one side of the internal walls.

PhaseEight   The stone on the outside is starting to go up. They can only work on a little at a time for they must allow the lower layers to dry before putting more on top.

Snow

The stone in finished on the outside. They are now working on putting up some stone on the inside. This photo was taken during the snow storm yesterday. What a wonderful winter day.

Just a quick update on the inside - the electrician is working hard to finish up putting in all the wires. The A/C units are in place and the cabinet guy has started to build the cabinets in his workshop.

  PhaseEight
I am currently busy picking out colors for the cabinets and stains for the wood trim. We are still on target to be completed by the end of March. Things will start to move a little faster as the electrician finishes up and we can move forward with the details.   Dr. Vaughan and I give tours daily to clients coming in for pet care. If you are in the area, please stop by and say 'hi'. We would love to show you the progress. Happy Holidays!

Blue Roof
PhaseEight

The blue metal roof is finished. The outside of the building is almost completed. However, there is still a lot more to be done on the inside. The builders are about to insulate and sheet rock all the walls. The custom cabinets are being built off site and should be ready for installation soon. All electrical is complete.

Sheet Rock
The insulation has been installed and they have just finished up the sheet rock. This picture to the right is of the reception area. The picture directly below shows the private boarding suites. These suites will have a New Orleans balcony theme. The next picture to the left of that is of the runs which currently have no walls.   PhaseTwelve

PhaseTwelve   This photo to the left shows a nice view of the timber trusses located in the reception area. You will notice a lot of stone inside, plus we used a lot of windows to allow for natural light. We want to create a very open, warm feeling.
